Jim Renn is the owner of Salsa 'en el Bolsillo' a.k.a. Spokane Salsa which he started in 2010 in Spokane WA. Jim started dancing with his first Salsa lesson in August of 2000, but really fell in love with Salsa in 2002 after attending a Salsa cruise in Miami / San Juan PR and the West Coast Salsa Congress (now the LA Salsa Festival). He has traveled all over the country and abroad studying and dancing Salsa. Jim began training with world class Salsa dancers, instructors, performers, and choreographers Jhon Narvaez and Liz Rojas of Salsamania in 2012 and is primarily focused on LA style Salsa on 1. In addition to studio classes at Spokane Salsa, Jim teaches in the local community at various locations and events (night clubs, colleges, high schools, studios, community centers, etc.) including shows with Spokane's very own local Salsa orchestra "Son Dulce". Spokane Salsa is focused on a strong emphasis of good dance technique, etiquette, and musicality. Jim is also a music enthusiast and DJ's Salsa, Kizomba, and West Coast Swing under the moniker “DJ Rolenn”.
Jim is often accompanied by dance partner Katie Clemons, who is also a traveled Salsa dancer. Katie has a ballroom background and is an avid West Coast Swing dancer. Katie discovered her passion for Salsa in 2008 after partnering with Jim and attending the Seattle Salsa Congress.
