Jim Renn (Owner-Operator of Spokane Salsa)

I took my first Salsa lesson in August of 2000 at Spokane's original Salsa club "Avalon" under the tutelage of Glenn Braunstein.  In March of 2002 I had the opportunity to attend a Caribbean cruise under a number of Salsa and Casino instructors including Enio Cordoba, Terryl Jones, Carlos Tellez, and Felipe Polanco.  I was introduced to live Salsa music in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Miami during the Calle Ocho festival.  This single week-long event planted the "Salsa bug" and was the real beginning of my Salsa journey.  This passion has since taken me all over the country and abroad studying and dancing Salsa.  I have had the opportunity to study Salsa, Casino, and Kizomba all over the western hemisphere with instructors from all around the world focusing primarily in LA style Salsa on 1.  I teach locally in Spokane, accompanied by my long-time dance partner Katie at various locations and events (night clubs, colleges, high schools, community centers, etc.) including shows with Spokane's very own local Salsa orchestra "Son Dulce".  I was introduced to and have been training with Jhon Narvaez and Liz Rojas of Salsamania since 2012.  I travel regularly to train, dance, study, and DJ Salsa and Kizomba.  My instruction is focused on a strong emphasis of good dance technique, etiquette, and musicality.

Katie Clemons

Katie began teaching ballroom after completing a teacher training course with Arthur Murray Dance Centers (Waltz, Fox Trot, Tango, V. Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba, Night-Club Two-Step, and East Coast Swing).  Katie discovered her passion for Salsa in 2008 after partnering with Jim and attending the 2008 Seattle Salsa Congress.  After catching the "Salsa bug" in 2008 she too has gone on to dance and study Salsa in many different places.  Katie has also extensively studied West Coast Swing and is a well known local Swing instructor.
